We sincerely appreciate your visit to our site and hope you find it to be helpful and informative. I would like to convey to you a brief historical background on myself for your information:
I was born in Sikeston, Missouri, in September of 1950. My father moved the family to northwest Louisiana in 1955 and purchased a cotton and cattle farm outside of Bossier City, Louisiana, where I was raised. After graduating from Bossier City High School, I served in the U.S. Navy, and after my discharge from the Navy I was employed by South Central Bell, which is now BellSouth, in 1973. In 1976 I was re-located by BellSouth to south Alabama to work in the company's construction department out of the Mobile District.
My wife, Lynn, and I purchased a home in Robertsdale in March of 1977, and have since made the city our home. We raised our three children here and have been truly blessed in the friendship that we have established and the love that has been given to our family from those in the community.
I am still employed by BellSouth as their manager over the supply division for the gulf coast area. I received an accounting degree from Troy State University, my family and I worship at the Robertsdale First Baptist Church, and I am a Rotarian. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation, I am presently the chairman of the Baldwin County Mayors' Association, and have served on other state, county, and local committees and boards. I began my political career with the City through an appointment to the City's Zoning Board of Adjustments in 1983; I was then elected to serve one term on the City Council in 1988, and was elected as mayor in 1992, I am presently in my fourth term as Mayor.
What I've enjoyed the most in my career with the City is being in a position to help others and to create improvements for our community. We've built parks, upgraded our utility infrastructure, and most of all we have improved the services and offerings that we provide to our citizens. We're a very robust community, we are a community that is growing younger as reflected from the data on our 2000 census, our population base has been growing at the annual rate of 5% for the last 10 years, and we were recognized as the 8th fastest growing community in the state of Alabama in 2003.
"Our policy with the City is to offer an open door to everyone", so if you should wish to establish your business or call us your home, we will gladly welcome you to our "Great Community".
Thank you for the time you have given in reviewing our site and if we can be of any further assistance or help please contact us to address your needs, and we hope you will have a future opportunity to come and visit with us.
