November 5, 2012, Mayor Charles Murphy is sworn in for his 6th term as Mayor. Councilman Joe Kitchens is sworn in for his seventh term, Councilman Brent Kendrick is sworn in for his sixth term, Councilmen Paul Hollingsworth and Sue Cooper are sworn in for their fourth term and Ruthie Campbell is sworn in for her first term on the City Council. 1st Monday meeting – Date has been changed to Tuesday September 4th at 6:00 pm. (no work session)

3rd Monday meeting – Time has been changed from 8:00 am until Monday September 17th at 6:00 pm (work session to begin at 4:30 pm)

Construction Begins on Sidewalk along US Hwy 90

The construction of a 5 ft wide concrete sidewalk from the intersection of College Avenue and US Highway 90 eastward to Rock Valley begins May 30 and will continue for approximately 3 months. This work is being performed under a “Safe Routes to School” grant administered by ALDOT.

Kids Splash Pad Opens!!

The New Kids Splash Pad at Garrett Park opened today, Thursday May 24, 2012. The hours of operation are Monday thru Sunday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. The Splash Pad is NOT able to be reserved for private parties. Please read and obey the Splash Pad Rules as posted on the restroom facility.

Robertsdale Receives Grant to Improve Energy Efficiency of Street Lights

ROBERTSDALE — Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy is pleased to announce that the City has been awarded a $100,000 grant to replace 120 street lights, located along Highway 59 from Central Baldwin Middle School to County Road 48, with new LED energy-efficient light fixtures. For one of the existing incandescent fixtures, the annual cost of power is approximately $120.90 and estimated bulb life is an average of 22,000 hours. For one of the new LED fixtures, the annual cost of power is approximately $39.00 and estimated bulb life is 50,000 hours. The new lights will utilize less power, thus reducing energy costs and will also require less maintenance and repair.

Highway 59 is the major thoroughfare for Baldwin County residents and visitors traveling to the beaches. The existing incandescent street lights, located within the City limits, give off poor lighting. The LED lights will cast out a brighter light providing better visibility for motorists along this highly trafficked road. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
